Ms. Sierra Harrison
Ms. Sierra was born and raised in Heber City, Utah. After graduating from Wasatch High School in 2019, she attended Brigham Young University, where she studied Cultural Anthropology and Psychology. Through a combination of theory and data analysis courses, Sierra learned how to study and interpret the ways people perceive and interact with the world around them.
She had the opportunity to apply her anthropological studies during two study abroad experiences: one in Thailand in 2022 and another in Ireland in 2023. In Thailand, she explored how her friend conceptualizes suffering and joy, documenting the experience on film with the hope of one day creating a short biographical film about her friend’s story.
While in Ireland, Sierra contributed to the renovation of a new space for an artist collective and conducted interviews with artists across various mediums. Her research focused on the role of art in Irish society and culture.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree, Sierra was invited by her sister Stevie the director of Thriving Day Academy to join the school as an assistant owls teacher. Sierra has greatly enjoyed her time at the academy and loves helping students take charge of their own learning.
In her free time, Miss Sierra enjoys designing and stitching cross-stitch patterns, working toward her goal of reading 65 books, watching international films, and participating in activities with her church group.
