Ms. Makayla Johnson

Ms. Makayla will be assisting Ms. Anna in the Chickadees classroom this year.

Ms. Makayla was born and raised in Garland, Utah, and has always had a heart for working with children. After graduating from Bear River High School, she began working in special education at Roosevelt Jr. High while also teaching music lessons from her home. It didn’t take long for her to realize that teaching children was where she was meant to be!

Makayla went on to study Early Childhood Development at Brigham Young University, Idaho, before an opportunity took her to Montana, where she worked in a childcare center. After a year away, she was ready to return closer to home, and we’re so excited that her journey has brought her to Thriving Day Academy!

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Makayla is happiest in the great outdoors. She loves camping, fishing, horseback riding, ATV riding, and hiking, and she is currently training for her second half-marathon!

She also has a huge passion for music and plays acoustic guitar, classical guitar, piano, and ukulele, and sings, too. You may even find her country dancing with friends in her free time.
